Dispute resolution

Help preparing and submitting representment cases within the deadlines the card networks set.

The issuer decides. Your job is to make the decision easy and to make the deadline.
Overview

Answering the question that was actually asked

Most lost disputes are lost on process, not on merit. A response that ignores the reason code, arrives after the deadline, or consists of a paragraph of explanation without documents will not succeed regardless of how clearly the merchant is in the right. Representment is a documentary exercise with a fixed format.

FAQ

Common questions

It varies by card network and reason code, and the window is short. Treat every notification as urgent.

Signed delivery confirmation, an authorisation record matching the cardholder, accepted terms at the point of sale, and documented communication with the customer.

Chargeback fees are commonly charged when the dispute is filed and are not always refunded on a win. Check the fee schedule on your account.

Chargeback protection

Stop the dispute before it becomes a chargeback.

When a cardholder disputes a sale, the alert networks tell us before it turns into a chargeback. You refund inside the window and it stops there: no chargeback, no fee, and nothing counted towards the ratio that gets merchant accounts closed.

Ethoca, CDRN and Visa RDR, worked from one portal with a countdown on every alert. Four fields to create your account, and pricing is confirmed in writing before anything is switched on.
