Mobile payment acceptance
Take card payments away from the counter — at the table, on a job site, at a market stall or in a customer's driveway.
Getting paid where the work happens
For trades, mobile services and pop-up retail, the gap between finishing the job and getting paid is where money is lost. Taking the card while you are still on site removes that gap entirely, and because the card is physically present, the transaction is treated as lower risk than invoicing it later by phone.
How the setup works for your account
Phone or tablet based
Pair a reader over Bluetooth, or use a standalone wireless terminal with its own connection.
Works on cellular
Wireless terminals with mobile data keep working where there is no customer Wi-Fi.
Tap, chip and wallet
Contactless cards and phone wallets are accepted the same way as a dipped chip card.
Digital receipts
Email or text the receipt on the spot instead of carrying a receipt book.
Practical considerations
Battery and coverage
Check the battery life quoted for the device and whether it needs Wi-Fi or has its own data connection.
Tipping and signature
If you take tips, confirm the device prompts for them at the right point in the flow.
Multiple staff
If several people take payments, make sure each has their own login so the day's batch is attributable.
Common questions
No. Mobile acceptance usually runs on the same merchant account as your other card-present volume.
Some devices support store-and-forward, which holds the transaction and submits it once connectivity returns. This carries decline risk, so it should be used deliberately.
